Product Category: Auxiliary Equipment
When a plant operates two or three forming machines in parallel, air stops being a utility and becomes a shared resource that either holds pressure or does not. The VihoX 100HP centralises that supply with 14.05 m³/min of free air from a 75 kW permanent-magnet block, sized for combined demand up to about 11.2 m³/min.
The inverter lets the motor follow the plant’s aggregate demand rather than one machine’s cycle, which is what makes a single large unit practical across several lines. Direct coupling removes belt losses, soft starting limits electrical disturbance, and because cooling is entirely by air there is no water circuit to lay, treat or freeze.
A plant at this scale needs proportionate ancillaries: a receiver in the 2000 to 3000 litre band to absorb large cyclic drawdowns, a refrigerated dryer rated 16.0 m³/min or above, and three-stage filtration ahead of the process. The distribution header is normally DN65 to DN80, with branch sizes calculated from each machine’s own demand.
| Parameter | VihoX 100HP Rating | Plant-Wide Effect |
|---|---|---|
| Rated horsepower | 100 HP (100P) | Serves two to three forming machines |
| Motor output | 75 kW | Largest frame in the PM VSD range |
| Free air delivery at 8 bar | 14.05 m³/min | Central air for a multi-line plant |
| Usable air after treatment | 11 m³/min | Plant-wide demand ceiling |
| Discharge outlet | G2 | Minimal restriction at full delivery |
| Receiver volume | 2000–3000 L | Absorbs large cyclic drawdowns |
| Dryer capacity | ≥16.0 m³/min | Protects instruments and blow-off points |
| Distribution pipe | DN65–80 | Header sizing for a whole hall |
| Sound pressure | Approx. 72–78 dB(A) | Best placed in a separate compressor room |
| Footprint | Approx. 2250×1250×1600 mm | Plan floor space and lifting access early |
A single large frame is easier to maintain and occupies one bay, while several smaller units offer staged capacity and redundancy. The right answer usually depends on how much downtime your production can tolerate, so it is worth stating that requirement up front when you ask us to quote.
Two to three, provided the combined demand stays at or below approximately 11.2 m³/min once all consumers are counted.
One large frame is simpler to service and takes one bay. Several smaller units give staged capacity and redundancy. Tell us your uptime requirement and we will advise.
DN65 to DN80 for the main run, with each branch sized from the demand of the machine it serves.
Because a plant with large cyclic drawdowns needs considerably more buffer volume than one drawing air steadily.
With sound pressure reaching 78 dB(A) and a substantial heat release, a separate ventilated room is the normal arrangement.
Drainage at the receiver, the dryer and every filter stage, combined with a deliberate fall in the pipework so water cannot collect in the mains.
Oil-free construction is available. Confirm the requirement at enquiry stage if the process forbids any oil carry-over.
Verifying the electrical supply, confirming oil level and rotation, setting the pressure band, and proving the dryer and all drains before production begins.
Send us the number of forming lines, each machine’s air demand and your redundancy expectation, and our engineers will size the central compressor, storage, treatment and header as one package. Related pages: sheet extrusion lines and three-station thermoforming machines.

When one compressor serves several lines it is usually installed with the largest tower in our range, the VihoX 150 ton unit, plus a 30HP air-cooled chiller for critical circuits. Air demand at this scale comes from cup making machines and other high-cycle forming equipment.
