Product Category: Auxiliary Equipment
Small workshops rarely want a compressor room. The VihoX 10HP screw set delivers 1.13 m³/min of free air at 0.8 MPa from a 7.5 kW permanent-magnet motor, enough for one vacuum former, a compact forming station and the usual hand tools without the motor running flat out all shift.
The rotor couples straight to the permanent-magnet motor, so there is no belt to tension or replace and no belt slip to waste energy. An inverter varies motor speed in step with demand, which means a cell that draws 0.4 m³/min for most of the day is not paying for full-speed compression. Soft starting also keeps the inrush current modest, so the unit can share a normal three-phase supply with the machines around it.
The screw head is only one part of a working system. This package pairs it with a 500 litre receiver that damps the load and unload cycle, a refrigerated dryer rated at 1.5 m³/min or above, and three-stage filtration. Distribution pipework is normally DN25, while the compressor’s own discharge connection is G3/4.
| Air System Item | VihoX 10HP Value | Effect on a Small Cell |
|---|---|---|
| Rated horsepower | 10 HP (10P) | Entry frame of the PM VSD range |
| Motor output | 7.5 kW | Runs on a modest three-phase supply |
| Free air delivery at 8 bar | 1.13 m³/min | Covers one small pneumatic cell |
| Usable air after treatment | 0.9 m³/min | Plan tooling around this, not the peak |
| Discharge outlet | G3/4 | Standard thread, no adapter required |
| Receiver volume | 500 L | Damps the load and unload swing |
| Dryer capacity | ≥1.5 m³/min | Holds the pressure dew point steady |
| Distribution pipe | DN25 | Low pressure drop over short runs |
| Sound pressure | Approx. 60–71 dB(A) | Can sit near the working area |
| Footprint | Approx. 900×700×1000 mm | Fits a corner without a plant room |
Add up the air consumed by every cylinder, blow-off point and hand tool on the cell, then compare the total against the 0.9 m³/min usable figure rather than the compressor’s peak output. That is the honest way to decide whether this frame is sufficient or whether the next size up is the safer purchase.
It depends on the former’s consumption per cycle. Total the cylinder volumes and any continuous blow-off, then check that figure against the usable output rather than the headline delivery.
Treatment equipment and pipework pressure drop take their share of the output. The 0.9 m³/min figure is the volume you can realistically design around.
Correct. The rotor is coupled to the permanent-magnet motor without belts, removing one recurring maintenance item and the energy loss that belt slip causes.
It ramps the motor up instead of switching it straight across the line, so starting current stays low and the mechanical shock on the drive train is reduced.
With a receiver and pressure control it cycles automatically on demand. Most plants simply let it stop when the last machine on the cell stops.
Yes. Oil-free construction can be specified where the process cannot tolerate any oil carry-over.
Between roughly 60 and 71 dB(A) depending on load and how it is mounted, which is normal conversation level for a machinery hall.
Air filter, oil filter, oil separator and the lubricant charge at the intervals in the manual. The permanent-magnet motor itself carries no brushes.
Send us the cell layout, the number of pneumatic actuators and any continuous blow-off demand, and we will confirm whether 1.13 m³/min of free air covers it or whether you should step up a frame. Related reading: our vacuum forming machines and the wider auxiliary equipment range.

A 10HP unit suits a single pneumatic cell, which also makes a 3HP air-cooled chiller and a VihoX 40 ton cooling tower natural companions on the same installation. Typical air consumers are vacuum forming machines and a servo take-out robot.
